Description :
| Crossings was recorded on October 26, 1996. It features compositions by Scott Samenfeld, the band's bassist and founder. The title cut "Crossings" was written to feature a Senegalese drumming ensemble. It paints a picture of a caravan crossing the desert, stopping at an oasis, and moving on into the distance. It features djembe and junjun (drums from West Africa) and a musette solo (a double reed from Niger) that evokes the colors of the desert oasis. The compositions on this CD were written between the early 70's and the mid-90's. They are all timeless and still remain fresh today. |
