| Description: | The arrival of Astroboy in Montevideo marked the birth of a new breathing space for the local music scene. Finally a band proved to be different from the usual latin rock and punk groups that had, until then, defined the musical direction of the uruguayan capital. This year started out quite smooth, with a fresh tour that meant a bag of shows along the uruguayan coastline. However, the tour somehow de-toured and ended in Argentina, as many had predicted. Last february in Buenos Aires, Astroboy offered an unforgettable performance at the Planetarium’s summer stage, just as the sun was coming down. This past april they finally launched their much anticipated third musical release, Big For The City, their first LP entirely in english. Besides, this release matched another celebration: the world premiere of Grande para la Ciudad, a documentary about the album’s production, recording and editing process. Shot both in Uruguay and Argentina in 2006 –and directed by Juan Schnitman and Andrés “Pepe” Estrada, directors of El Amor Primera Parte-, the film was instantly selected to participate in the Buenos Aires International Film Festival of Independent Film (BAFICI), and received great reviews. | |
