Description :
| This album was created in honor of the 2007 Oklahoma State Centennial Oklahoma has a living folklore because it did not even exist as an entity much more than 100 years ago. Acie has explored this folklore and the history of Oklahoma and presents it in a family friendly format. The cd begins with the title cut in which Acie describes some of the major events and characters of this colorful area. Track 4 is Okies about the migration in the 1930's when hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans left the state because of the dust bowl and depression seeking work in California. There are also songs about Pawnee Bill, Tom Mix, Buffalo Soldiers, and the Oklahoma bombing The cd ends with 8 recollections by old-timers about the old days in Oklahoma and includes Billy Riley, an Oklahoma author. The concluding number is an Oklahoma tent revival song, Power In The Blood with Acie and two singers, The Morgans, Floyd and Nadine. |
