Description: | ....She's a ole friend. we went to primary school together. Her father was a pastor in Tobago. He had thirteen hungry mouths to feed and was ketchin his ass to make ends meet so he end up sending McCartha Linda Sandy Lewis - that's what they called her back then - to stay with a relative in Trinidad.Poor thing, she was thin like a pin.Look how things change, eh? A few years later, in 1956,I was surprised to find her in the Young Brigade tent. She sing her first calypsoes there under the name Crusoe Kid.She had become a real pro and people were calling her Calypso Rose now. This new name brought her luck, she became the first woman to take the Road March with "Tempo" and then winning it again the following year with "Come Leh We Jam" and to top it all off the Calypso Monarch with "Her Majesty" and "I Thank Thee"......
