Description:Unit Records was founded in 1983 on the initiative of various jazz musicians and activists. From the beginning, the label was an attempt to create a "Swiss musicians own label". Unit Records saw itself as a label run by musicians for musicians and released jazz CDs. Eight years later, the team of the late Director of Pro Helvetia was replaced, which put the fate of Unit Records five successful years later in the hands of the famous drummer Lucas Niggli. After Unit Records was incorporated into the structures of the Swiss Music Syndicate (SMS) until the label was eventually taken over in January 2005 by a group led by the renowned jazz guitarist Harald Haerter. Unit Records is a successful and reputable label, firmly rooted in the jazz scene, Swiss and international jazz productions worldwide.
